Bilayer Bending Actuators Based on Semicrystalline Polyurethanes with Large Thermal?Expansion Coefficients

چکیده
Thermoresponsive polymer-based bilayer bending actuators rely on the dissimilar thermal expansion of polymers that form two layers. To maximize heat-induced change in curvature, shall be large one and small other material. Semicrystalline display a nonlinear across their melting transition, but as mechanical integrity is lost upon melting, they cannot readily used actuators. overcome this limitation, segmented polyurethanes (PUs) with crystallizable polyethylene glycol (PEG) soft segments hard formed by reaction 1,6-hexane diisocyanate 1,4-butanediol (BDO) developed. The latter serve physical cross-links inhibit flow at temperatures where domains PEG have melted. molecular weight hard-segment content polymer are systematically varied. As PEG–PUs associated crystalline domains, these materials correlated crystallinity highest for lowest BDO weight. Electro-thermally controlled based new high deflection low switching temperatures.

Magnetically Assisted Bilayer Composites for Soft Bending Actuators
This article presents a soft pneumatic bending actuator using a magnetically assisted bilayer composite composed of silicone polymer and ferromagnetic particles. Bilayer composites were fabricated by mixing ferromagnetic particles to a prepolymer state of silicone in a mold and asymmetrically distributed them by applying a strong non-uniform magnetic field to one side of the mold during the cur...

In this paper, nonlinear bending analysis of bilayer orthotropic annular/circular graphene sheets is studied based on the nonlocal elasticity theory. The equilibrium equations are derived in terms of generalized displacements and rotations considering the first-order Shear deformation theory (FSDT). The nonlinear governing equations are solved using the differential quadrature method (DQM) whic...

The electrostatic contribution to spontaneous membrane curvature is calculated within Poisson-Boltzmann theory under a variety of assumptions and emphasizing parameters in the physiological range. Asymmetrical surface charges can be fixed with respect to bilayer midplane area or with respect to the lipid-water area, but induce curvatures of opposite signs. Unequal screening layers on the two si...

متن کاملDynamic Electromechanical Coupling of Piezoelectric Bending Actuators
Abstract: Electromechanical coupling defines the ratio of electrical and mechanical energy exchanged during a flexure cycle of a piezoelectric actuator. This paper presents an analysis of the dynamic electromechanical coupling factor (dynamic EMCF) for cantilever based piezoelectric actuators and provides for the first time explicit expressions for calculation of dynamic EMCF based on arrangeme...
